BTS’ agency Big Hit Entertainment announced that the agency will take over KOZ Entertainment, the agency founded by leading Korean hip-hop male solo artist and top music producer ZICO. Big Hit officially announced the acquisition of KOZ Entertainment on November 18th. Besides ZICO, KOZ Entertainment is also home to Dvwn, an R&B musician who was recruited in November last year.
Big Hit, which established Belift Lab with CJ ENM last year and acquired Source Music, expanded the multi-label system further this year by acquiring Pledis Entertainment and also to KOZ Entertainment. With KOZ Entertainment joining the agency founded by top producer ZICO, Big Hit Labels is expected to gain a two-stone effect by expanding artist IP and strengthening music producing capabilities.
Yoo Seunghyun, the CEO of KOZ Entertainment said, “The philosophy of KOZ, which focuses on the value of artists and contents, which aims to innovate the music industry, is similar to that of Big Hit Entertainment. We will work hard to find talented artists and promote global business earnestly under cooperation with Big Hit.”
Chairman Bang Sihyuk of Big Hit stated, “I’m delighted to work together with ZICO, the best producer and artist in Korea. I hope that KOZ artists will make a big success in the global market through Big Hit’s global network and systematic music production system. We are looking forward to the synergy between KOZ and Big Hit Entertainment.”
