Hui was born and grew up in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi-do.
His family consists of mother, father, and an older brother (born 1993).
His birth name Lee Hoetaek has the meaning of “a pond where people gather”.
Hui is the leader and main vocalist of PENTAGON.
He is also known as the main composer of the group.
Hui started to gain the public’s interest as a composer after his participation in composing a concept evaluation song in Produce101 Season 2 titled ‘NEVER’ as well as Wanna One’s debut song ‘ENERGETIC’.
He also composed songs for Shinhwa, JO1, and WEi.
Although he is famous for being the main vocalist and composer of the group, he is also part of the dancer line alongside Kino.
He joined the project group SUPERFIVE that was formed through MBC variety show ‘Favorite Entertainment’ as a rapper.
