NCT is a multinational group under SM Entertainment, it has four different units: NCT Dream, NCT 127, WayV and the rotational unit NCT U. As of 2020, the group has 23 members: Taeil, Johnny, Taeyong, Yuta, Kun, Doyoung, Ten, Jaehyun, Winwin, Jungwoo, Lucas, Mark, Xiaojun, Hendery, Renjun, Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin, Yangyang, Shotaro, Sungchan, Chenle, and Jisung. The name NCT stands for ‘Neo Culture Technology’ with the concept of having units in several cities in the world, thus the number of members increases every time a new unit is introduced. The group debuted its first unit NCT U with members Taeil, Taeyong, Doyoung, Ten, Jaehyun, and Mark through a digital single ‘The 7th Sense’ on April 9, 2016. On July 7, 2016, Seoul based unit NCT 127 became NCT’s second unit to debut with members Johnny, Haechan, Mark, Winwin, Taeyong, Jaehyun, Yuta, Taeil, Jungwoo, and Doyoung. Following the debut of NCT 127, SM Entertainment announced that they would debut a third unit NCT DREAM on August 25, 2016, with members Mark, Renjun, Jeno, Haechan, Jaemin, Chenle, and Jisung through the single ‘Chewing Gum’. Lastly, the Chinese unit WayV was formed with members Kun, Ten, Winwin, Lucas, Xiaojun, Hendery, and Yangyang and debuted on January 17, 2019, through their digital EP ‘The Vision’.
