Woozi was born and grew up in Busan.
His family consists of mother and father.
He is an only child.
Woozi’s father was a bowling coach.
His stage name Woozi is pronounced WooJi in Korean, it comes from the words Woori + Jihunie that means “our Jihun”.
Woozi is the lead vocalist, leader of SEVENTEEN’s vocal team, as well as the group’s main producer.
He also formed a composing team called Universe Factory with Pledis Entertainment’s in-house producer and singer BUMZU.
He first put interest in music after learning to play instruments such as piano, guitar, drums and clarinet in an English academy he used to attend when he was a kid.
Woozi competed in many classical music competitions when he was in elementary school until he was in the second grade of middle school.
He originally wanted to pursue a career as a classical musician.
With little expectation, he applied for Pledis Entertainment open audition. With a competition rate of 300:1, Woozi passed the audition and joined the agency in April 2011.
Woozi sang Justin Mraz’ ‘I’m Yours’ and Park Bom’s ‘You and I’ which he learned from the head of the English academy.
Woozi, DK and Wonwoo are the only 3 members of SEVENTEEN who became a trainee through open audition.
Previously, he had no idea about pop music or dance so he was kind of reluctant to learn dancing.
He had the second longest practice period in SEVENTEEN after S.Coups, he became a trainee for about 4 years.

He wrote a diary on SEVENTEEN’s Facebook page dated back in 2013 that he was mistaken as a girl when he was going to the toilet due to his long hair, tiny body frame and fair skin.
He has pretty hands, the hand on the cover of SEVENTEEN’s ‘teen, age’ white version album is Woozi’s hand.
In contrast to his cute appearance, he dislikes acting cute (aegyo) or skinship.
Despite claiming that he hates doing skinship, he is often seen hugging Mingyu, Dokyeom or being touchy to the older members Joshua, Jeonghan, S.Coups. Thus making fans draw the conclusion that it’s not that he hates skinship, but he dislikes when others do it to him while he likes doing skinship to others.
Woozi has a very shy personality.
He can be seen as someone cold, but he actually tsundere cares about his team members a lot.
