Seungkwan was born in Busan, but his family moved to Jeju Island soon after.
His family consists of mother (Jwa Kyehwa), father (Boo Jinyoung), and two older sisters (Boo Sojeong and Boo Jinseol, born 1989 & 1993).
He belongs to Jeju Boo’s clan.
Seungkwan is raising a puppy called Bookkeu.
He is the main vocalist as well as a member of SEVENTEEN’s vocal team.
The Chinese character of his name Seungkwan has the meaning of “winning generously”.
Seungkwan liked singing so much that he participated in many children’s singing competitions since he was in elementary school.
When he was in the 2nd grade of middle school, he participated in a singing competition, singing Big Mama’s ‘Yeon’. His art teacher who secretly filmed Seungkwan at the competition uploaded the video to the internet after receiving Seungkwan’s permission, a Pledis staff coincidentally saw the video and immediately casted Seungkwan.
When Pledis staff contacted him, he thought that he was being scammed.
He joined Pledis Entertainment in 2012 when he was 14.
